Campaign – Blue Star Donuts

Q&A

Q: What song do you play on repeat?
A: Lately I got the album from “La Casa Azul” on repeat and the new Lizzo album. I listen to a lot of Spanish music pop and rock and English R&B.

Q: What’s the best way to start the day?
A: Best way to start the day is by taking my dogs Carrots and Kyo out for walks and coffee!

Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Celebrating the Day of the Dead and baking some Man de Muerto. It’s my favorite holiday.

Q: What is the most impactful project you’ve worked on and why.
A: I have to say coffee and donuts! Working with Blue Star Donuts; it was a dream of mine to work with them since I am also a huge fan. The relationship was really great from the get-go and I feel very proud of the images created. I also feel so grateful for working with Peet’s coffee, amazing client, easy to work with, and love seeing the images everywhere.

Q: Which art/photo exhibit that you’ve seen has impacted you the most?
A: Yikes, not sure I can narrow it down to one! Visiting Frida Kahlo’s house, Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle at the Guggenheim Museum, and visiting TeamLab in Tokyo.

Q: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to?
A: What is my dog thinking has always been the biggest mystery to me. I keep saying I would pay good money to know what he is pondering.

Q: What are some things you had to unlearn?
A: Had to unlearn putting work before myself. I was a bit of a workaholic, so I can easily just dive into it and not stop. Having a dog has helped me break my day and also trying to keep more structured work hours.

Q: What fictional place would you most like to go?
A: The Star Wars universe! No doubt!

Q: What book impacted you the most?
A: 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Q: What risks are worth taking?
A: Worth taking the risk when looking for something that will make you happy or help reach a milestone. Fortune favors the Brave!

Q: What are the first 3 chapters of your autobiography titled?
A: 1. The little picky eater
2. Is he the teacher or the student?
3. Ni de aqui ni de alla.

Q: What do you spend the most time thinking about?
A: I’m a Sagittarius and I’m always thinking about the future. I daydream a lot!

Q: Best and worst advice you’ve ever received.
A: Best advice: Don’t be scared to say yes to new opportunities and figure things out if they are new to you.Worse advice: As a 5-year-old a friend told me not to touch my belly button or my butt would fall off.

Q: How has your work evolved over the past few years?
A: I think I have been finding more and more my visual voice. I’m also always learning and studying so I can apply new skills and techniques to my images.

Q: One thing you can’t show up to a shoot without – Besides a camera 😉
A: A good attitude (and a good playlist)!
