Q&A

Q: What song do you play on repeat?
A: Sadly, I don’t have one song on repeat. I tend to listen to various music as a soundtrack to the projects I am focusing on.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Fitting in all my personal projects amongst the commercial work.

Q: Which art/photo exhibit that you’ve seen has impacted you the most?
A: Both were at the Whitney – The Avedon Retrospective and The Basquiat Exhibition. Though I am a huge fan of Alison Van Pelt.

Q: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to?
A: Space Aliens.

Q: What fictional place would you most like to go?
A: South Park, Clashing Rocks (Symplegades) from Jason and the Golden Fleece and Castle Dracula.

Q: What book impacted you the most?
A: No one book impacted me, but my base is The Biker Riders by Danny Lyons, Avedon’s American West and Passages by Irving Penn. I am always excited to find a book that I have never seen.

Q: What risks are worth taking?
A: I do not think anything is a risk in this industry. I feel that you must constantly push yourself forward and follow thru on your ideas.

Q: What do you spend the most time thinking about?
A: Lighting ideas.

Q: Best and worst advice you’ve ever received.
A: Best Advice – Adapt! Adapt! Adapt! I know I have gotten bad advice, but I follow my heart and follow what I believe will work (probably bad advice? LOL!).

Q: How has your work evolved over the past few years?
A: I do much more research before each shoot, but also realize that on the shoot day, it can all go sideways. But I feel that research helps prepare you for any issue.

Q: One thing you can’t show up to a shoot without – Besides a camera 😉
A: A speaker. Music can help to put a subject at ease when being photographed.
