Teri Lyn Fisher

Los Angeles , California, United States
Hi, I’m Teri! I’m an advertising, editorial, food, cosmetic, and still life photographer in the Los Angeles area, and I have been shooting since 2008. I focus mostly on food and cosmetics, but I also love to work in motion. I began my photographic journey at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. It was there I studied Graphic Design and gained my appreciation for colors and composition. I still employ a lot of those principals today to create flow and architecture within my images by utilizing the interaction of shapes, colors, and texture. After Otis, I went on to complete a Bachelors degree in Commercial Photography at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. I graduated with distinction and have been shooting ever since. I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. Yes, we have potatoes (which means we also have tater tots, and you can't forget about fry sauce, it's an Idaho thing), but it’s also a charming city surrounded by nature. Growing up there taught me an appreciation for the beauty in the outdoors and gave me my penchant for utilizing natural light in much of my work. After I moved to Los Angeles, I couldn’t believe the variety in types of cuisines and the endless amount of restaurant choices. I was very excited to try everything, and I still am! This new found love of food helped to shape my focus of food photography. After some time pursuing food photography, I decided that I needed to have a deeper understanding of the food itself. In 2013, I started attending culinary classes to gain a different and more technical perspective of food, rather than just a visual one. All those Saturdays spent in cooking classes exponentially expanded my ideas and skills around photographing food. I can now see a recipe and consider all the possible options for photographing the process start to finish.
